Manager, Software Engineering – Federal Applications

C3 AI, an enterprise AI application software company, is looking for an engineering manager to provide leadership and direction to the Federal Applications software engineering team of ambitious self‑starters. The role is highly visible, involves frequent communication and interaction with senior leadership, and requires a driven individual to develop and shape the product roadmap and strategic team goals.

This role requires U.S. citizenship. An active Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance (Secret or higher) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Passionately drive and lead the defense, intelligence, and federal application engineering team to excellence.
• Build a cross‑functional team to deliver highly innovative applications that exceed customer expectations.
• Advocate engineering best practices and ensure high engagement and productivity.
• Interface and communicate regularly with senior management and technical architects.
• Train and mentor internal and external team members.
• Be a willing, hands‑on contributor throughout the development cycle from conception and design through release.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience with a proven track record in large‑scale, distributed solutions.
• 3+ years of engineering management experience managing highly technical teams.
• Excellent competency in multiple object‑oriented programming languages.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to dive deep and get things done in a fast‑paced environment.
• Project management and resource planning experience.
• A disciplined approach to testing and quality assurance.
• U.S. citizen; security clearance preferred.
• Prior experience with defense or intelligence applications is a plus.

California Base Pay Range: $149,000—$215,000 USD.
