Position title: Assistant Professor in Soft Condensed Matter
Salary range: The current salary range for this position is $80,800-$128,700 (9-month academic year salary). Off-scale salary and other components of pay may be offered to meet competitive conditions. Current salary scales can be viewed here.
Anticipated start: July 1, 2026, or on a mutually agreed date thereafter
The Physics Department at UC Berkeley is conducting an open search to fill a tenure-track faculty position for an Assistant Professor in Soft Condensed Matter. This position is open to all sub-fields of soft condensed matter, broadly defined, including but not limited to non-linear physics, nonequilibrium statistical physics, physics of learning and information, non-biological soft condensed matter physics, and related areas of biological soft condensed matter physics. Basic qualifications (required at time of application): Applicants must have a Ph.D. (or equivalent international degree) or be enrolled in a Ph.D. or equivalent international degree-granting program at the time of application.
