Who We Are:

The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank's mission is to end hunger in San Francisco and Marin counties. We envision a community free of the root causes of hunger, where everyone has access to nutritious food of their choosing and is uplifted by a network of support.

Together with more than 300 community partners, we work to address hunger head-on through a coordinated network of neighborhood food pantries, CalFresh enrollment, home-delivered groceries, and policy and advocacy efforts. We work with our community to provide food for people facing hunger today while working to end the hunger of tomorrow. This fiscal year, we are serving 36,000 households per week. What You Would Be Accountable for:

The Temporary Receptionist will be responsible for the following key pieces of work:
  • Greet everyone with kindness:Cordially welcome staff, volunteers, and visitors to the Welcome Center with a smile and friendly tone; acknowledge departures warmly.
  • Provide excellent customer service:Respond to questions, concerns, and suggestions in person and by phone with patience and professionalism.
  • Maintain composure and warmth:Remain composed under pressure andmaintaina warm demeanor when interacting with people from all backgrounds.
  • Maintain the Welcome Center:Help keep the front area neat, organized, and secure.
What You Would Be Doing Right Now:
  • Answer and direct phone calls:Use a multi-line Cisco phone system toassistcallers with inquiries, transferring them to theappropriate departmentwhen necessary.
  • Assistwith deliveries:Signfor packages, log them, and notify recipients. Accept personal food deliveries and notify staff.
  • Support volunteers:Take photos of volunteer groups upon request to help commemorate their service.
  • Handle donations:Accept food and financial donations appropriately. Guide donors to place food in barrels or direct them to the shop floor (between 8 AM-2 PM) for weighed donations and receipts.
What Else You Should Know:

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
  • 1+ years' experience in reception, office services, or customer service
  • Bilingual Spanish skills are a plus!
KEY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Friendly and welcoming personality
  • Strong verbal communication and listening skills
  • Comfortable answering phones and interacting with people
  • Calm, composed, and professional in busy environments
  • Basic computer and phone system skills

This position is set in a office environment. This is a temporary position. Hours may vary based on need, ranging anywhere from 0-40 hours per week (anticipated minimum of around 20 hours weekly). The assignment is expected to last at least the next few weeks, with the possibility of continuing through December and potentially into January.

SALARY The position is on call. The starting salary for this position is $22.00, with exact salary depending on experience.
