Job Description:

Title: Python Developer
Location/Hybrid: Oakland, CA
Hybrid - 3 days onsite in Oakland, CA office
Length: 12 months, possible to extend
Start/On-boarding Process:
Once an offer is made, a background check will be conducted, including:

1. 10 years background
2. Drug test
3. Fingerprinting

* Timeline is 2 weeks from offer to start based on the background process.

Position:

Python Engineer
This person will work with the Vanguard Personalized Indexing portfolio management team to design and build automations to improve the team's efficiency. Responsibilities include automating the collection of data needed for portfolio managers to make decisions, determining when a local solution (e.g., scripts) is appropriate versus building a more robust enhancement into existing systems. Duties and responsibilities would include full-stack software development for the Vanguard Personalized Indexing portfolio managers. This contractor would work with the Oakland-based portfolio management team to understand their workflow and develop applications focusing on time savings through automation, cost savings through optimization, and risk mitigation.

Must Haves:

• Investment systems knowledge (trading, securities, etc.)
• Ability to effectively communicate with portfolio managers and work closely with them to rapidly build solutions
• Python strongly preferred
• Knowledge of AWS services like Lambdas, ECS, and AWS infrastructure
• GitHub

Preferred:

• AWS certification
• Knowledge of investment systems strongly preferred
