Job Description

Software Engineer – Delta Dental will help build the Next Gen Applications & Products Suite. The role includes designing, building, configuring, delivering and maintaining highly scalable applications using industry best practices. The incumbent will work collaboratively with product managers, UX designers, architects, principal engineers, test automation, and DevOps teams.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a key contributor to the engineering team, creating innovative solutions to complex business use cases.
  • Participate in architectural design, system analysis and programming activities, often performing independent research.
  • Develop production‑ready software with maintainable, scalable, responsive and secure code. Employ best‑practice data structures, algorithms, design patterns and frameworks.
  • Own end‑to‑end software delivery, from conception to deployment and production support. Own specifications, quality, release deployments and monitoring of production health.
  • Create comprehensive, readable technical documentation. Encourage a culture of thorough documentation.
  • Ensure code quality through test‑driven development, continuous delivery and test automation frameworks.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience designing and developing secure web applications and products.
  • Experience with React, Node.js, and Java.
  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) & Adobe Target experience is desirable but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure or another cloud platform.
  • Rapid learning of new technologies and adaptation to evolving business needs.
  • Excellent communication skills, both technical and non‑technical.
  • Strong documentation skills for testing, installation, operations and maintenance.
  • Data‑driven presentation abilities.
  • Analytical and creative problem‑solving for design, development and testing.
  • Awareness of technology trends, design patterns and agile methodologies.
  • Capability to remediate end‑of‑life / end‑of‑support hardware or software.
  • Adherence to organizational processes, including Scrum.
  • Life‑long learner and process improver.
  • Must pass a background check.

Base Pay Information

Pay Grade 21: $80,500 – $174,300. Actual pay varies based on Delta Dental's assessment of KSAs, experience, education, certifications and internal equity.
