About the Role
Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Project Accountant plays a key role in supporting project teams with contract management, billing, compliance, payments, and financial reporting. You'll work closely with project managers to ensure accuracy and efficiency across all accounting functions while helping to keep projects on track financially.
What You'll Do
- Own the Numbers: Manage all accounting-related functions for assigned projects, from setup to closeout.
- Drive Billing Accuracy: Prepare and process client invoices, track change orders, and ensure timely reporting.
- Support the Team: Assist project managers with budgets, job cost tracking, and performance metrics.
- Maintain Compliance: Oversee collection and tracking of required documentation such as certificates of insurance and licenses.
- Enhance Processes: Identify and resolve billing discrepancies while contributing to ongoing process improvement.
- Collaborate and Communicate: Act as the bridge between accounting and project teams to ensure financial alignment.
What You'll Bring
- 3+ years of experience in project accounting, ideally within architecture, engineering, construction, or professional services.
- Strong understanding of project management principles, billing, and job cost accounting.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency with Deltek Ajera, Vantagepoint, or similar accounting software.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and a proactive, detail-oriented mindset.
