AZAD Engineering is currently looking to bring on a Civil Engineer to support our Water Quality Task Orders with Caltrans.


Key responsibilities will include:


· Reviewing Stormwater Data Reports for Design Phase Treatment Best Management Practice (TBMP) identification and affected watersheds.


· Reviewing Caltrans Plans and Specifications for TBMPs in project.


· Conducting field site inspections in accordance with plans and Stormwater Data Report. This includes identifying locations of TBMPs on large state highway projects, safely driving to jobsite locations off of highway shoulders and near on and off ramps, and hiking unpaved and uneven areas adjacent to State highways.


· Coordinating with Caltrans Construction and Maintenance teams to perform inspections, identify changes to design, and report findings.


· Administering regular meetings with partners to track deliverables to the client.


· Collecting GPS data of TBMPS


· Creating and maintaining GIS models


· Drafting and finalizing Caltrans memos and closeout forms


· Estimating and managing team budget for responsibilities noted


· Potentially designing TBMPs and writing Stormwater Data Reports in accordance with Caltrans design documents.


This position will support a variety of projects throughout Caltrans District 4. Ideal candidates should have a basic understanding of stormwater systems and familiarity with drainage infrastructure is a strong plus.

Location: The Engineer will have to travel onsite to field inspections spanning East Bay, the Peninsula and North Bay.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Water Quality Engineer / Specialist to support Caltrans and local agency projects. The ideal candidate will have experience performing inspections on active jobsites, drafting technical memorandum on stormwater treatment, reviewing Stormwater Data Reports, GPS data collection and GIS modeling, coordinating site visits with multiple stakeholders, an have an understanding of watersheds, stormwater systems and Best Management Practices. This role involves both technical analysis and coordination with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local water quality requirements.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Water Resources, Hydrology, or Environmental Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, or

· Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification accepted by the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.

· Qualified SWPPP Developer (QSD) or Qualified Stormwater Practitioner (QSP) certification a plus. ).

· 5+ years of relevant experience performing inspections for construction contracts, in water quality engineering or other related experience.

· Demonstrated knowledge of:

o NPDES permit process and Clean Water Act

o Treatment BMP design

o Treatment and disposal of contaminated groundwater

o Hydromodification impacts and mitigation

o State and Regional Water Quality Control Board regulations

· Strong writing, organization, and communication skills.

· Drivers License

· Proficiency with Caltrans standards, SMARTS, and GIS Software.
