The Opportunity

This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Diabetes Care division where we focus on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We're revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is seeking an Associate Project Leader to join the Customer Experience PMO, responsible for program leadership of projects aimed at delivering a unified, consistent and best-in-class digital customer experience. You will drive complex projects to improve NPS, acquisition and retention targets and other key experience metrics for our Libre platform customers, the world's #1 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) solution. Projects may include:

  • Implementation of AI tools to our customer service channels
  • Efforts to improve operational efficiencies in complaint investigation processes
  • Reduce average handling time of customer calls by improving access to relevant data
  • Automate warranty replacement handling

As an Associate Project Leader, you will work with a cross functional team to set strategy, evaluate ideas, prioritize features, define releases, manage product roadmap, timelines, and budget while coordinating with cross functional ADC and Abbott team members worldwide. You will be responsible for reporting project status and progress to ADC senior Management. This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.

What You'll Work On

  • Formulates, harmonizes and consolidates project scopes, plans, strategies, and budgets for one or more projects, working with IT, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and other functions.
  • Confirms the ongoing strategic rationale and value proposition for projects
  • Leads project planning, scheduling, monitoring and reporting of projects.
  • Ensures Division-wide thinking and problem-solving are incorporated into project execution.
  • Drives resolution in cross-functional problem solving, communication, and integration.
  • Liaises with other Project Owners and managers to prioritize activities across programs to balance resources, deliverables and schedules.
  • Monitors business processes and cross-functional initiatives

  • Executes programs to completion and assures successful market entry, or timely termination if required by developments
  • Identifies areas for process improvement and implements solutions with stakeholders
  • Supports cross-functional teamwork focused on business unit goals and program interdependencies
  • Adapts quickly in a rapidly changing environment to meet aggressive product launch schedules
  • Champions PMO best practices to drive better project planning and change management
  • Conducts Program Review Meetings with Affiliates and provides regular updates
  • Supports Product Roll Outs and Geo Expansion Projects
  • Establishes and monitors KPIs to assess delivery performance
  • Develops strategy and plans to improve consumer experiences in hardware, mobile/web products and services

Accountability / Scope / Budget

  • Responsible for strategic scoping, value definition, and successful and timely implementation of system launch related projects
  • liaising with senior management to drive alignment on key decisions and reporting project status
  • Drive scope, budget, and quality tradeoffs across portfolio in conjunction with stakeholders
  • Indirect accountability for departmental expenses with functional budgets aligned to project scope
  • Typically leads a matrix team with accountability to ensure resourcing and commitments are met

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a discipline appropriate to the project or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience
  • Led several high complexity projects from start to finish
  • Strong technical skills and management judgment appropriate to the project
  • Demonstrated expertise in PM tools and processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in IT or engineering with 10 years of relevant experience as R&D, QA, IT leader, project manager, or product owner
  • Experience with software development of complex systems including Web apps or mobile projects
  • Digital experience in Medical Device or Healthcare
  • Experience with customer service enablement or QA investigation tools
  • Strong cross-functional program management and team leadership
  • Additional cross-functional experience in IT, Systems Engineering, Product ownership, Operations, R&D, Commercial, Quality
  • Experience in privacy topics such as Medical Health Records and sensitive data processing
  • Ability to collect information from multiple sources, synthesize and resolve conflicting requirements
  • Understand the business value and roadmap of solutions
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Process-oriented with emphasis on continuous improvement
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Experience with PM tools such as MS Project, Product Board or JIRA
  • Travel up to 20%

The base pay for this position is $128,000.00 – $256,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
