Assistant Controller (hybrid)

Partner | Executive Search Leader – Accounting & Finance

Overview

A growing SaaS company is seeking an experienced accounting leader to run day‑to‑day accounting and strengthen the finance function as the business scales. Reporting to the Controller, this role owns core accounting operations, financial close and reporting, and improvements to processes and systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily accounting operations including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and reconciliations.
• Manage the month end, quarter end, and year end close processes to deliver accurate financial statements on schedule.
• Prepare and review financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules for management and external stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies.
• Design and maintain internal control procedures and improve accounting workflows to support growth.
• Identify opportunities for automation and system improvements and lead or support implementations.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a small accounting team and coordinate with shared service providers or external partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field.
• Active CPA license required.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience combining public accounting and corporate roles.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and external reporting requirements.
• Demonstrated experience improving processes and participating in accounting system work streams.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Comfortable in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and able to balance hands‑on work with leadership responsibilities.
