Overview

The UCSF Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics seeks an innovative scientist to launch a dynamic research program. The role combines graduate teaching, service, and a collaborative research community at UCSF.

Responsibilities

• Lead a high‑impact research program addressing fundamental questions in modern biology.
• Graduate teaching and curriculum development in biochemistry and related disciplines.
• Service to the department, university, and scientific community.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in mentoring and research.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, or related field.
• Demonstrated record of scientific accomplishment and potential for a tenure‑track career.
• Strong potential for collaboration with UCSF investigators and the Mission Bay campus.
• Commitment to mentoring graduate students and postdoctoral trainees.
• Experience or potential for graduate teaching at the university level.

• Research Statement – 2–3 pages describing future research plans and vision.
• Teaching Statement – 1 page outlining teaching philosophy and mentoring activities.
