POSITION SUMMARY

The successful candidate will provide engineering support to a manufacturing environment, serving as the technical expert and providing daily manufacturing support to ensure all production goals are met. He/she will also lead various projects pertaining to new equipment/process installations, cost reduction initiatives, quality improvements, lean manufacturing improvements and new product introductions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support several manufacturing processes, ensuring equipment uptime, meeting production goals and high product quality
  • Develops work instructions, drawings, tests, modifications, assembly processes, fixtures, processes or specialized manufacturing and test equipment for existing or new products.
  • Prepares and maintains manufacturing documentation (Routers, BOMS's, and Work Instructions) for new and existing equipment in manufacturing.
  • Identify opportunities and lead projects to improve productivity, reduce costs, improve quality and achieve on time delivery to meet production needs.
  • Responsible for new equipment introductions, process modifications and improvements
  • Interface with maintenance to troubleshoot equipment problems
  • Coordinates with R&D to successfully launch new products into high-volume manufacturing

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or related discipline
  • Familiar with statistical methods, 6-sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups or managers
  • Self-motivated and ability to motivate others
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Solid problem solving abilities
  • Proficient use of Microsoft products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook,

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with polymer extrusion preferred
  • Experience with AutoCAD/CAM fixture and tooling modeling desirable
  • Experience with statistical software (Minitab, JMP)
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle)
  • Lean manufacturing background and a strong focus on continuous improvement

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasionally must be able to lift up to 40 lbs., pull, push, grab, bend, stoop or kneel. The ability to stand and sit for prolonged periods of time. Clearly and comfortably, view, interpret and process information within department. Use a computer monitor for extended periods, during normal working hours is required.
