Description:

Title: User Experience Hardware Electrical Engineer

Job Type: Contract

Contract Length: 6+ months

Target Start Date: ASAP

Work Location/Structure: Onsite in Foster City, CA - 4 days in office

About the Opportunity

Our client, a leader in Automotive, is looking for a skilled User Experience Hardware Electrical Engineer to join their team for a 6+ months engagement. This project involves owning the development of key human-machine interfaces (HMI) for their robot/vehicle, including hardware for user authentication, ingress access, communication, and cabin/occupant monitoring. This is a high-impact role that requires a self-motivated professional who can hit the ground running and deliver results quickly.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

This role is focused on the successful completion of specific tasks and deliverables. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Specifying electrical component and system requirements and leading engineering discussions and development with suppliers.
  • Coordinating supplier tooling and production to meet critical vehicle milestones.
  • Collaborating with hardware design teams, firmware and software teams, and system operators to iterate on existing designs and develop future solutions.
  • Conducting root cause analysis during the development, validation, build, and deployment phases for issue resolution.
  • Supporting the development and execution of system and component-level validation test plans.
  • Working with manufacturing and quality engineers to mature components and support vehicle build, bring-up, and test activities.

Required Skills & Experience

We are looking for someone with a proven track record of successful contract engagements. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5-10 years of experience in electrical component/system design and troubleshooting.
  • Deep expertise in sustaining existing designs to ensure scalability, Python scripting, and understanding of Ethernet. This isn't a learning role—you need to be a subject matter expert.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and manage your own time effectively to meet project goals.
  • Experience taking a part or assembly from concept through production, working with external suppliers, and managing deliverables for multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise status updates to the project team.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
