As a Team Leader, you'll provide leadership to a customer-centric team of associates and accelerate the seasonal tax business by managing a single H&R Block tax office.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the front-line manager to provide leadership and development of tax office associates, delivering an outstanding client experience and achieving office growth objectives.
- Advance knowledge and skills to excel as a resource on tax topics and products for associates.
- Lead daily activities to ensure tax office associates complete work according to deadlines, with attention to quality standards, priorities, and goals.
- Build an engaging team environment by training and coaching associates to execute Service Standards and recognize outstanding contributions.
- Lead daily team meetings and communicate essential information to tax office associates.
- Create associate work schedules and ensure accurate timekeeping and overtime management.
- Prepare tax returns, as required.
- Conduct timely performance reviews and partner with the Associate Relations Center to resolve issues and address performance concerns.
Your Expertise
- Prior experience in customer service, shift leadership, or a similar role; experience supervising or managing people.
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course (if preparing tax returns).
- Annual completion of continuing education and ability to meet IRS and applicable state requirements.
- Computer proficiency with MS Office; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Customer-centric mindset, passionate, determined, and resilient.
- Flexible work schedule and assignments based on business needs.
- High school diploma / equivalent or higher.
What you'll bring to the team
- Partner with the District General Manager to create and implement office-level growth plans, develop local partnerships, and manage office community involvement.
- Assist in recruiting and interviewing candidates for tax office positions.
- Serve as the point of contact for onsite escalated client service concerns.
- Ensure clients are scheduled properly and conflicts are resolved.
- Lead daily activities to ensure work is completed on time with quality standards and goals.
- Create an engaging team environment through training and coaching.
- Manage associate work schedules and ensure accurate timekeeping and overtime.
- Provide support with tax return preparation when required.
- Coordinate performance reviews and address associate-related issues.

Pay Information
The pay range for this position is listed below. Individual pay decisions depend on experience, education, skill, performance, and geographic location. Eligible associates may participate in incentive plans and benefit programs described by HR Block.
Pay Range: $15.00 - $65.00 per hour
Location: San Francisco, CA (example postings show varying postings across locations and times).
