The focus of this position is to help monetize and scale Grid's tax product (PayBoost), working closely with business operations and the core services engineering team to deliver a product that scales and just works.

Base pay range

$120,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr

What You Will Be Doing

  • Backend Development: Build product features end to end—domain models, business logic, and API integrations that make the product work for customers.
  • Deployment & Iteration: Practice a dynamic, data‑driven approach to product development, pushing bold milestones in well‑engineered, incremental releases.
  • Data Analysis: Use SQL and other analysis tools to evaluate product and system performance regularly.
  • Debugging Evented Systems: Test and debug complex state machines in a system that heavily uses pub/sub.
  • Shipping to Production: Access a rapid CI/CD process that enables daily production releases and respond to production incidents as needed.

About You

  • Backend Software Engineer: 5+ years of experience writing consumer‑grade backend software, ideally in Go (Golang) deployed on GCP.
  • Startup Person: Comfortable with high‑growth opportunities, dynamic decision making, and an iterative approach.
  • Experience with FinTech or complex domains: End‑to‑end understanding of product engineering in a financial services or similar environment.
  • Customer‑centric: Ability to simplify complex problems and create lightweight, quick‑to‑use UX for users.
  • Data‑oriented Backend Experience: Proven experience in evented systems, data acquisition (screen scraping, crawling), data normalization, and API integration is a plus.
  • Autonomy and Initiative: Work independently, own projects, and proactively identify key leverage points for data products.
  • Curiosity and Optimism: Constantly questioning how things work and willing to change them.
  • Self‑Starter: Prioritize work and deliver demonstrable results on a tight cadence.
  • Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with tax code or financial modeling is nice to have but not required; experience with web scrapers and data normalization is useful.
