Sr. Software QA Engineer, Residential Energy Experience

What To Expect

Tesla's residential energy efforts drive the global shift toward sustainable power. This team delivers an efficient and cohesive user experience (both customer & installer) across our flagship products — Solar Roof, Solar Panels, and Powerwall. In this role, you'll build a suite of tools to automate testing and validation for end-to-end customer experiences for ordering and payment, facilitate permitting procedures, reduce onsite deployment time, and advance performance tracking abilities. These features directly accelerate system design and enhance product engagement, increasing the adoption of renewable energy generation/storage solutions in homes.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct both functional and automated web and mobile testing; End-to-End integration testing is a must
  • Develop and execute an automation planning and scripting strategy
  • Design and develop reusable test frameworks for both UI and API testing; emphasis on reusability and maintainability of test scripts
  • Manage the integration of automated test scripts with a test management tool
  • Analyze and solve complex problems and motivate team members to produce creative solutions
  • Collaborate in the overall automation effort, influence priorities, assist team members, and work closely with different teams and stakeholders
  • Set up and maintain pipelines for test execution with a focus on CI/CD practices

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in software testing, automation scripting (Selenium WebDriver, Playwright, Cypress, JMeter, Python, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Passion for problem-solving, electric vehicles, and delivering exceptional user experiences
  • Experience performing UI testing, covering cross-browser, accessibility, internationalization, performance and security
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with different teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies like AI (LLMs) and stay updated with industry trends

Expected Compensation

$108,000 - $282,000 annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits

Pay offered may vary depending on factors including location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Details of participation in benefit plans will be provided if an offer is extended.
