IT Operations Support Administrator III – Department of Technology (Job #1093)
Location: San Francisco, CA – 1 S Van Ness Ave, 94103. Hybrid role requiring on‑site presence at our San Francisco office and occasional travel within the city.
Overview
The IT Operations Support Administrator III is a pivotal role in the Department of Technology (DT). As the first point of contact for tech support, the administrator uses ServiceNow to triage, resolve, and coordinate incidents and service requests, keeping users connected and systems running smoothly. The role also supports endpoint services, hardware/software provisioning, secure network access, user training, and project collaboration across DT.
Essential Duties
- Conduct in‑depth evaluations of IT requirements for Tier‑1 departments; identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Create a detailed onboarding roadmap tailored to each department's needs.
- Procure, configure, and deploy necessary hardware and software.
- Establish secure network access and maintain endpoint security compliance.
- Address immediate IT challenges impacting operations.
- Provide foundational training to department personnel on new tools and processes.
- Lead or assist with IT infrastructure and endpoint management projects to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient technology operations.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and departments to coordinate technical project tasks, timelines, and deliverables.
- Prepare reports and maintain records of project progress, configurations, and system changes for compliance and audit requirements.
- Test and validate new hardware, software, and configurations as part of technology rollout projects.
- Administer Microsoft Intune for device provisioning, configuration, compliance, patch management, and endpoint security controls across Windows, iOS, Android, and macOS platforms.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate degree in computer science or closely related field, or equivalent in total course credits (minimum 60 semester or 90 quarter credits with at least 20 semester or 30 quarter credits in computer science).
- Experience: Three (3) years performing analysis, installation, and technical support in a network environment.
- Substitutions: • One (1) year of equivalent experience may substitute for one year of degree (30 semester or 45 quarter credits). • One (1) year of a State (DAS) Information Technology apprenticeship program may substitute for the required education.
- Desirable Qualifications:
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills; effective hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Experience collaborating with cross‑functional IT teams (network, security, application support) on complex issues.
- Document detailed ticket notes, maintain and update knowledge base articles, create/revise process documentation.
- Excellent time management and prioritization; handle multiple tickets in a fast‑paced environment.
- At least one (1) year of experience with Windows Server Administration, networking essentials, Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and an active California driver's license.

Compensation
$50.85 – $63.05 hourly ($105,768 – $131,144 annually)
