Position: Stationary Engineer, Sewage Plant (journey-level). Under general supervision, incumbents function as plant operators and/or plant mechanics in a wastewater treatment setting. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining a wide variety of complex machinery and equipment, conducting routine inspections, maintaining logs, and ensuring safety and compliance with regulatory permits.
1. Experience: Four (4) years of verifiable journey-level Stationary Engineer, Plant Operator and/or Plant Mechanic experience in operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment plant machinery; OR completion of a recognized four-year Stationary Engineer Apprenticeship Program; OR graduation from a recognized four-year Maritime Academy with an Engineering or Technology degree; OR possession of at least a 3rd Assistant Marine Engineer's License of unrestricted horsepower; OR possession of an FAA Airframe or Powerplant Certificate with four years of related experience.
2. License and Certification: Possession of a valid driver's license; AND Grade I or higher California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate or Grade I or higher California Water Environment Mechanical Technology Certificate. Desirable qualifications may include higher level certificates and experience in wastewater treatment.
