Sr. Technical Designer, Apparel — Quince

We're looking for a Sr. Technical Designer to join our growing team. In this role, you'll lead all aspects of technical design and fit — translating creative concepts into production-ready garments that meet Quince's standards for quality, construction, and consistency. You'll partner closely with Merchandising to ensure each style is executed with precision and efficiency from proto through bulk production.

Success in this position means making an impact by making fit a competitive advantage at Quince — a lever that drives revenue growth through repeat purchases. The Tech Designer will evaluate and evolve our existing fit standard and fit processes with the goal of optimizing fit for our most important customers. The role will work with international partners, both internal and external, to build and implement fit blocks, evaluate fit samples, recommend revisions, and move products to Pre-Production approval in collaboration with merchandising, sourcing, product development and production, to reduce returns, improve comfort, and enable faster development as we scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build fit blocks for key styles that can be utilized as a starting point for future garment development.
  • Manage the fit process from 1st Proto to Bulk production.
  • Develop, maintain, and update technical spec pages for all styles, ensuring accuracy and consistency by category.
  • Spec garments, conduct fit sessions, and create detailed fit comments for vendors and factories.
  • Collaborate with technical design teams internationally to build fit processes that can be consistently maintained by teammates abroad.
  • Work directly with merchandising teams to maintain quality and consistency across all products while incorporating feedback based on customer and sales data.
  • Evaluate paper and digital patterns and make revisions and recommendations to perfect the fit appeal of our garments.
  • Sketch detailed flats and leverage Google Sheets and Excel for communication with internal teams and external teammates.
  • Ensure all garments align with company standards for fit, construction, and quality.
  • Troubleshoot and provide solutions for pattern and construction issues as needed.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years as a technical designer or in a related role
  • Comprehensive understanding of pattern making, garment construction, and grading.
  • Software Proficiency in pattern making software, Excel, Google Sheets preferred.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in creating and reviewing technical specifications.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Creative and resourceful in addressing technical challenges.

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Standing and walking throughout the entirety of your shift
  • Ability to go up and down stairs, use of ladders throughout the day as needed
  • Bending, twisting, or kneeling may be required throughout the day for lifting or maneuvering objects
  • May be asked to work outside or travel to shoots off-site as needed

Compensation & Benefits

All posted ranges are reflective of base salary and may vary depending upon experience level and location. Bonus and equity may also be provided for eligible roles.

Pay Range: $120,000 USD - $140,000 USD
