A leading national environmental science and engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead stormwater compliance and planning projects for public sector clients across California.


Key Responsibilities:

β€’ Lead complex stormwater projects, including NPDES compliance, watershed planning, and green infrastructure design.

β€’ Serve as Principal-in-Charge for municipal and state agency clients, including Caltrans, USACE, and regional water boards.

β€’ Develop and grow client relationships, identify new opportunities, and prepare proposals and budgets.

β€’ Generate approximately $1.25M+ in annual net revenue through project leadership and client development.

β€’ Mentor and develop staff, fostering collaboration and technical excellence.


Qualifications:

β€’ PE license in California (required).

β€’ 15+ years' experience in stormwater management, planning, and compliance for public sector agencies.

β€’ Proven business development success and ability to lead multidisciplinary project teams.

β€’ Advanced degree preferred (MS/PhD), though experienced BS-level candidates may be considered.

β€’ Strong knowledge of California stormwater regulations (MS4, Caltrans, TMDLs, LID).

β€’ Excellent communication and leadership skills.
