Position: Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Assistant

Job details

  • Location: 330 Ellis Street, Penticton, BC V2A 4L7 (On site)
  • Salary: $20.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
  • Term: Permanent, Full time
  • Schedule: Morning, Day
  • Starts: As soon as possible

Responsibilities (Tasks)

  • Assess children's development to prepare learning plans tailored to their needs
  • Assist co-workers with housekeeping and cooking duties
  • Bathe, diaper, and feed infants and toddlers
  • Develop and implement child-care programs supporting physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development
  • Maintain daycare equipment
  • Storytelling and engagement activities
  • Assist educators in carrying out programs promoting development
  • Assist with record-keeping under supervision
  • Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioral issues and prepare reports for parents/guardians/supervisor
  • Know licensing regulations
  • Attend staff meetings to discuss progress and problems of children

Qualifications

  • Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years, or equivalent experience
  • Experience: 7 months to less than 1 year
  • Certificate: Child development assistant (ECE level 1)
  • Area of specialization: Preschool education
  • Language: English
