Director of FP&A – Technical Operations

Our client, a biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Director of FP&A to lead financial planning for its Technical Operations function.

Location

San Francisco, CA. This position is hybrid, with in-office expectations on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Job Description

This role will be in charge of building and leading the FP&A team, and will be responsible for supporting Technical Operations, working closely with cross‑functional leaders across R&D, Technical Operations, Supply Chain, and Corporate Finance to enable the successful advancement of the pipeline and commercial supply readiness.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of annual operating plans and long‑range strategic forecasts for CMC and manufacturing.
• Partner with manufacturing teams to optimize cost of goods, assess capacity, and evaluate external manufacturing agreements.
• Conduct investment analysis and ROI assessments for product launches, technology transfers, and scale‑up activities.
• Ensure compliance with financial controls and deliver accurate reporting and KPIs.
• Build and mentor a high‑performing FP&A team supporting Technical Operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA or CPA preferred.
• 12+ years of progressive FP&A experience, including support for CMC functions in biotech/pharma.
• Strong financial modeling and scenario analysis skills.
• Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to translate complex financial concepts.
