Position: Laboratory Associate III Microbiology - Per Diem

Overview

Performs duties primarily in support of analyzing Laboratory quality control and patient specimens. Also performs quality assurance tasks related to the analytic phase of Laboratory work flow. Operates, maintains and does basic troubleshooting of Laboratory analyzers that perform testing classified as "waived" and "moderate complexity." Receives, handles and processes a variety of specimens for Laboratory testing. Performs basic post-analytic tasks, including distributing reports, storing and/or retrieving specimens. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Support analysis of Laboratory quality control and patient specimens
  • Perform quality assurance tasks related to analytic phase of Laboratory workflow
  • Operate, maintain and troubleshoot Laboratory analyzers for waived and moderate complexity tests
  • Receive, handle and process specimens for testing
  • Perform basic post-analytic tasks, including report distribution and specimen storage/retrieval
  • Ensure compliance with local/state/federal regulations and privacy/safety policies
Qualifications
  • Education: HS Diploma or GED
  • Experience: 2 years recent relevant experience
  • Skills and Knowledge: Strong understanding of ordering Laboratory testing, handling and processing biological specimens; ability to perform duties accurately and reliably; excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage workflow, respond to volume fluctuations, equipment or information systems issues, STAT orders, and specimen integrity concerns; ability to follow standard practices and procedures; strong critical thinking, verbal and written communication; knowledge of local/state/federal regulations for patient privacy and safety; ability to work collaboratively and escalate complex issues when needed.

Pay Range: $36.28 to $45.34 per hour. The salary range may vary by location and is influenced by factors such as experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is part of the total rewards program, with eligible roles also receiving a comprehensive benefits package.
