As an engineer on the Classroom Experience team, you will work towards enabling simple, secure connections to meaningful classroom resources. This includes our Clever Portal, which allows students, staff, and teachers to access their resources day to day as well as classroom management tools for teachers, Clever Parents, our web application that supports learning in the home, and future explorations of how we might give access to Clever resources outside of our products. On the Classroom Experience team, we build interfaces that millions of students and teachers use daily to enable learning.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product management, design, and marketing teams to research, design, and code major new features and enhancements that will best engage, educate, and delight educators
• Develop and lead new features spanning fast and intuitive UIs, Go microservices, and REST APIs to give users access to their resources and other classroom management tools
• Be an important part of Clever's ecosystem of engineering excellence to create both the best possible customer experiences and top-quality internal architecture across all products and initiatives
• Understand and prioritize the Clever engineering culture
• Participate in team on-call rotation. Shifts are one full week every ~8 weeks; primarily working during business hours but may require off-hours incident responses
• Work across the stack in a microservice container-based architecture hosted on AWS. Technologies include Go for backend services, and Node, TypeScript, and React for frontend services; databases/storage include DynamoDB, Mongo, and S3

What we're looking for

• 2+ years of experience as a full-stack Software Engineer
• Experience with a major frontend framework like React is useful, but not required
• Experience with Golang and REST APIs is useful but not required
• Led small projects and collaborated with a team to create meaningful impact
• Architected solutions to solve for product needs
• Strong fundamentals in computer science and software engineering

Salary Transparency

The range of our base salary cash compensation for this role for candidates living in the United States (excluding NYC and San Francisco) is $114,000 - $135,000. For candidates living in NYC and San Francisco, the range is $126,000 - $148,000. All final offers are determined using multiple factors including experience and level of expertise.
