Postdoctoral Fellow - Mathematics & Statistics. Location: Sydney, Australia. The School of Mathematics and Statistics at UNSW supports a large community of staff and researchers and is engaged in a broad range of research interests in applied and pure mathematics, and statistics.
The Postdoctoral Fellow will undertake research within a five-year Laureate Fellow project funded by the Australian Research Council and UNSW Sydney, focusing on dynamical systems with techniques from functional analysis, operator theory, ergodic theory, differential geometry, data science, and/or machine learning. Topics include linear response, random and nonautonomous dynamical systems, spectral analysis, machine learning, data-driven dynamics, stability/perturbation theory/rigorous numerics. Applications may include analysis of spatiotemporal data from weather, climate, and social dynamics, with aims to discover and analyze large-scale patterns, elucidate mechanisms, and develop reliable automatic prediction and quantification schemes.
