Bioinformatics Engineer

Pay rate: $40/ hr - $50/ hr

Location: Remote but must be able to work in PST time zone

Job Type: 6-month contract

Key Responsibilities

• Process & analyze high-throughput sequencing data from various platforms
• Test bioinformatics software, pipelines and workflows with different parameterizations and compare results
• Package bioinformatics software, pipelines and workflows for distribution through Bioconda and container repositories
• Write CI/CD Github Actions tasks for automated unit test running, compile time benchmarking, performance regression checking
• Develop frontend data visualization components for proteomics and multiome data
• Prepare bioinformatics data web apps (made with Dash, Shiny, Streamlit) for deployment on product

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Masters in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related field with 2 years of biotech/academia/research experience
• Proficient in a GNU/Linux command line interface and Python, JavaScript
• Experience with High Performance Computing Clusters (HPC) and job schedulers
• Experience with bioinformatics workflow management frameworks (Snakemake, Nextflow)
• CI/CD experience
• Experience with front end development

Nice to Haves

• Experience with JS frameworks: React, Next.js, Node.js, D3.js, Tailwind
• Experience with AnnData format
• Experience with VCF (variant call format)
