The Child Development Department at Humboldt is a diverse and dynamic community of learners, committed to supporting and promoting positive experiences for children and families. We offer two bachelors degree programs, Child Development and Family Relationships and Liberal Studies Child Development Elementary Education as well as four distinct minors including: American Indian Education, Early Childhood Development, American Sign Language & Special Populations, and Family Studies.
At Cal Poly Humboldt, we prepare our students to be successful by teaching critical thinking, providing hands-on learning through our child development lab, establishing effective communication skills, modeling resilience and creativity in program and policy development, and setting high standards for ethical, responsible, reflective, proactive and professional behavior by providing students with an opportunity to participate in a variety of leadership roles.
Education: B.A./B.S. is required. Coursework leading to M.A. or Ph.D. in Child Development or related field is preferred.
Experience: Successful academic or professional experience within the last five years in Child Development or related field.
For ECE courses:
Education: B.A./B.S. is required. M.A. or Ph.D. is preferred.
Experience: ECE or EE classroom teaching or curriculum design experience within the last five years. Relevance of training, experience, or specialization to teaching specific courses. Evidence of teaching effectiveness is preferred.
