This open recruitment is for one (1) full‑time, represented position in the Source Test Section. The role supervises the section's air‑quality engineering staff and performs highly complex, specialized program assignments. The incumbent also coordinates or performs field, shop, and office source‑test program duties—including equipment purchase specification, data reduction and analysis, workgroup participation, and report preparation.
The Source Test Section conducts source‑emission tests at regulated facilities to determine compliance, develop emission factors, and gather information. Facilities commonly tested include petroleum refineries, power plants, manufacturing facilities, wastewater treatment plants, landfills, and gasoline dispensing sites. The section also provides regulatory oversight of facility continuous emission monitoring systems (CEMS), contracted source testing, and special testing or measurement projects.
Under direction, supervises the staff and participates in assigned air‑quality engineering activities across various District functions; performs related work as assigned.
This class is a working supervisor that provides both supervision and professional engineering services in support of District goals and objectives. Incumbents ensure adherence to the District's policies and procedures while performing air‑quality engineering activities. This class is distinguished from Air Quality Engineering Manager in that the latter holds managerial responsibility for staff and activities of an assigned section.
