  • Employment Type: Part?time, 21 28 hours per week (0.6 0.8 FTE)

  • Duration: Fixed?term contract until 30 June 2027

  • Remuneration: Academic Level A or B $91,381 $127,947 per annum, pro?rated, plus 17% superannuation and leave loading

  • Work Rights: Must hold full rights to work in Australia; visa sponsorship not available


About UNSW Rural


Delivering a 6?year medical course across rural clinical campuses, UNSW Rural supports students engagement with local communities and aligns with national rural health initiatives. This role supports biomedical sciences teaching and laboratory management within the rural clinical curriculum.


Responsibilities



  • Teach biomedical science components (anatomy, physiology, genetics, immunology, biochemistry, histology, pharmacology, cell/molecular biology, microbiology, research methodology, statistics) within the undergraduate medical course.

  • Lead laboratory management: kit set?up, chemical solutions, sample and culture work; resolve technical issues; maintain equipment and compliance records.

  • Ensure laboratory safety, documentation, inventory, and regulatory compliance.

  • Provide technical support to students and staff, mentor students in lab procedures.

  • Contribute to rural health education outcomes supporting local hospital and community health.


Qualifications & Skills



  • Medical sciences degree (MBBS, BMed, or equivalent) or PhD in a relevant field, with professional experience.

  • Demonstrated teaching effectiveness in biomedical sciences and commitment to rural?focused education.

  • Experience in laboratory management, regulatory compliance and safety.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and ability to engage students and staff across disciplines.

  • For Level B (Lecturer): evidence of research interests and publications.

  • Knowledge of eLearning and information technology support for basic and clinical medical sciences.
