Job Summary
Research Analyst Part Time (50%) for the HOPE HOME Policing Study. Bilingual (Spanish & English speaking and reading) is required. Flexible schedule with a 3?day on?site requirement, at least one on?site visit per week.
Responsibilities
- Conduct structured and semi?structured interviews in person and over the telephone with participants in English and Spanish
- Conduct ethnographic observations in the field
- Code qualitative interview transcripts
- Analyze data to identify themes and patterns
- Manage and extract data through REDCap and similar data capture instruments with support from Senior Analysts
- Contribute to data interpretation
- Distill complex data into meaningful summaries, reports, and visuals
- Conduct weekly data cleaning activities
- Keep study databases updated
- Call participants and send reminder letters to maintain retention rates
- Conduct field tracking locating participants
- Manage study petty cash for participant payments
The Research Analyst will, after initial training and observation, work independently with oversight from the Project Manager. The position requires a flexible and hybrid work schedule; the office is located off?site in Oakland, California.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Fluency in Spanish reading, speaking and writing
- Valid California drivers license
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
- Strong skills to interpret and communicate complex data in a clear and concise manner, both verbally and in writing
- Experience working with populations living in poverty and/or aging populations
- Willingness to participate in data collection activities in places including homeless encampments and shelters, study field sites in West and East Oakland, participant homes, and coffee shops
- Ability to drive (travel costs reimbursed) to locations for tracking participants
- Proficiency with personal computers and software such as Word, Excel and Access, and various Data Capture programs
- Demonstrated ability to learn new software programs as required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to follow strict study and office procedures and protocols
- Excellent data entry and data cleaning skills; ability to collect, record, and analyze data accurately
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, coordinate work tasks with others, and meet multiple deadlines
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in a work environment
- Demonstrated record of excellent attendance and reliability
- Ability to use sound judgement in responding to issues and concerns that arise during research activities, maintain a professional demeanor, and escalating issues when necessary
- Willingness to conduct field ethnographic visits
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Public Health, Policy, or related field and/or equivalent experience/training
- Experience conducting semi?structured interviews
- Experience coding interviews using Dedoose or similar software
- Experience using RedCap
- Experience conducting structured interviews
License / Certification
- Valid California drivers license

Additional Information
Salary range: $69,000??$80,000 (Annual Rate). Final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UCSF policy.
Location: San Francisco, CA (Zuckerberg San Francisco General ZSFG).
