Blaster/Painter Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Blaster/Painter to support a project in California. The role involves masking and blasting an aluminum-hulled vessel to prepare it for further maintenance or coating. Candidates must have experience with abrasive blasting techniques, particularly on marine-grade aluminum surfaces.

Blaster Responsibilities

• Perform abrasive blasting on aluminum-hulled vessels to remove old coatings, corrosion, and surface contaminants.
  
• Apply appropriate masking techniques to protect non-blast areas, fittings, and sensitive components.
  
• Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to ensure proper surface preparation and cleanliness.
  
• Operate and maintain blasting equipment, including compressors, hoses, and nozzles, in accordance with safety and operational standards.
  
• Handle and dispose of blast media and waste materials in compliance with environmental regulations and project requirements.
  
• Work in accordance with safety protocols, including wearing required PPE and following confined space and ventilation procedures.
  
• Coordinate with project managers and coating teams to ensure blasting is completed on schedule and meets surface prep specifications.
  
• Identify and report any surface damage or irregularities encountered during blasting operations.

• Prior experience in marine or industrial blasting
  
• Knowledge of surface preparation and masking procedures
  
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a shipyard environment
