The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator Associate (CRCA) to coordinate multiple clinical and translational research projects related to osteoarthritis diagnosis, outcomes after joint replacement, and fracture care. The CRCA will handle clinical study coordination, patient consent, interviews, follow-up monitoring, data and sample collection, and ensure compliance and safety under the supervision of the principal investigator. This onsite position is based in Redwood City and offers a chance to contribute to innovative research in joint disease treatment, impacting patient care and outcomes. More about the department at:

Duties include

  • Act as primary contact for research participants, sponsors, and regulatory agencies; coordinate studies from initiation to close-out.
  • Assess eligibility, obtain consent, and assist in recruitment strategies.
  • Coordinate specimen collection and processing.
  • Manage patient and laboratory data, maintain databases, and complete study documentation.
  • Ensure protocol compliance, review forms, prepare regulatory submissions, and manage IRB renewals.
  • Assemble study kits, monitor scheduling, and attend sponsor meetings as the primary contact.
  • Monitor study expenditures and adherence to budgets, resolving billing issues as needed.
  • Interact regularly with the principal investigator to ensure patient safety and proper study conduct.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in monitoring visits and audits.

Education & Experience (required)

Two-year college degree with two years of related work experience, or a Bachelors degree in a related field, or equivalent education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (required)

  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Certifications & Licenses

Certification from Society of Clinical Research Associates or Association of Clinical Research Professionals preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, and fine grasping.
  • Occasional sitting, reaching, computer work, phone use, writing, and lifting/carrying objects up to 40 pounds.
  • Rare kneeling, crawling, ladder climbing, forceful grasping, and lifting over 40 pounds.

Working Conditions

Occasional evening and weekend hours.
