Role Description
The Project Engineer assists the Project Managers and team in fieldwork. Projects will include estimating, procurement, preparing reports, subcontracts, submittals, and overall support. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are critical. Upcoming projects are in the Bay Area and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Daily game plans, including tasks to be completed, quantities, and previous day's quantities.
- Material orders.
- Equipment and crew tracking.
- Arrange layout lines and grades for upcoming work.
- Extra work tags.
- Reconcile invoices and timecards.
- Tailgate meetings.
- Attend weekly GSW Construction job meeting.
- Project updates to PM and team.
- Discuss highs and lows on the job.
- Process requests for information (RFI), subcontractors (SUB), change order requests (COR), and logs.
- Discuss production goals with the team.
- Share the weekly/monthly financial position and budget.
- Input Extra Work Orders and turn them into a Change Order (CO).
- Submit preliminary pay application/monthly billings.
- Update Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule and submit to Project Manager for review.
- Track performance and analyze the completion of key goals.
- Excellent working knowledge of construction procedures, building systems, and tools, with emphasis on heavy civil construction.
- Ability to solve problems and work under pressure.
- Knowledgeable in reading plans, shop drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to communicate effectively with workers, subs, vendors, stakeholders, and trades.
- Knowledge of MS Office, Bluebeam, HCSS/Heavy Job, Excel, and Foundations.
- Assist in achieving a zero‑injury culture through the support of our active Safety Program.
- Proactively identify and communicate safety improvements and hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions to maintain a healthy work environment and meet corporate safety standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Project management, project engineering, and project planning skills.
- Knowledge in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to work independently and on‑site.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in heavy civil construction is a plus.
- Successful completion of a pre‑employment drug, alcohol, and background investigation.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Current on all company‑required safety training.
- Competence to maintain confidential information and avoid conflicts of interest.
- Knowledge of drafting and ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Knowledge of project management software (Foundations) and/or estimating software (Bluebeam).
- Working knowledge of construction equipment, materials, techniques, and required standards applicable to the discipline.
- Adherence to the GSW Employee Handbook.
Education
Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of technical training and related experience.
Industry Experience
1–5 years' experience in the construction industry, comparable technical training, or related experience.

Salary, Employee, 401(k), Dental insurance, Health insurance, and Paid time off. Salary range $100,000–$140,000.
