Program Analyst — Epidemiology & Biostatistics, Part Time

Location: San Francisco, CA (Mission Bay); Percentage: 50%; Work Style: Flexible; Shift: Days; Shift Length: Variable.

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is seeking a Project Analyst to help coordinate high-impact mentoring, administrative, and research programs in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics. You will be part of a supportive, collaborative lab team that values innovation, professionalism, and excellence. This role supports NIH-funded mentoring programs, departmental administrative initiatives, and faculty research projects. The final salary and offer components are subject to UC policy. Your placement within the salary range depends on work experience and internal equity; the range is $80,200 - $120,300 (Annual). Note: This position is a Limited Appointment, with eligibility for Core Benefits. We require 2 days onsite as part of the return-to-work policy.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans for mentoring, administrative initiatives, and research projects.
  • Organize meetings and events; track program milestones; prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain tools such as mentoring dashboards, event logistics frameworks, and reporting templates to strengthen program operations.
  • Coordinate activities for NIH-funded mentoring programs and related departmental initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and trainees to ensure projects run smoothly and deliverables are met.
  • Support the department's mission of advancing research, training, and academic excellence, reflecting UCSF's PRIDE values (Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum 3+ years directly relevant experience required.
  • Experience in higher education, public health, or research environments preferred.
  • Knowledge of common organization- or research-specific software and applications.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Analytical/problem-solving skills; ability to analyze, research, and synthesize large data sets for sound proposals/ analyses.
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes; strong policy analysis techniques.
  • Experience drafting program communications and reports; track and report on milestones, metrics, and deliverables.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in program coordination.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management certification (PMP, CSM, ACP, or equivalent) or equivalent project management experience.
