Formed in 2018, Hwy Haul is building a next generation digital freight platform for fresh produce that connects shippers (farmers, distributors, wholesalers, and retailers) directly with truckers, eliminating intermediary friction, introducing end‑to‑end digital applications, and building advanced cold chain compliance. Our goal is to deliver freshness at your doorstep, reduce wastage during transportation, and create a future for sustainable growth for all stakeholders.

About The Role

You will apply your engineering leadership skills and knowledge of software development to drive ultra‑scalable and highly reliable systems. You hold the responsibility for the big picture, determining how our systems relate to each other and use a breadth of tools and approaches to solve a broad spectrum of problems. You'll oversee some of the most talented engineers, helping them pursue their passion and transform their careers. Your growth will come from building and supporting strong leaders, delegating effectively, mentoring for peak performance, defining clear roles and accountability, communicating clear priorities, and maximizing cross‑organizational alignment. Your success will be defined by “inspire and empower” rather than “command and control”.

What you'll do

• Participate with senior management in co‑developing a long‑term product reliability and technology roadmap.
• Be a role model and professional coach for engineers.
• Be the domain expert who follows industry trends and applies best practices.
• Contribute to the hiring and development of talented engineers ranging from junior to senior levels.
• Lead cross‑organizational projects to ensure teams deliver on time and at a high‑quality bar, proactively aligning resources and processes, mitigating risks, and making trade‑offs by taking intelligent risks.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering.
• 5+ years' experience managing teams of 10+ engineers.
• 15+ years' overall experience in the software industry.
• Experience attracting, retaining, and developing top engineering talent throughout the industry.
• Experience with the full lifecycle of building, deploying, and maintaining a large‑scale application on Google Cloud or another public cloud.
• Experience working in an Agile environment and managing geographically distributed teams.
