Bakery Inventory Specialist

Job Responsibilities

  • Efficiently replenish bakery products through effective buying practices.
  • Monitor and manage purchase orders and credits to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Request and oversee appropriate signage for products.
  • Manage spoilage and shrinkage to meet inventory turn goals and actively participate in inventory processes.
  • Complete necessary documentation such as spoilage, sampling, temperature, and sweep worksheets.
  • Ensure orders for bakery products are accurate and timely, optimizing inventory turnover.
  • Foster positive relationships with vendors to ensure smooth operations.
  • Oversee customer special orders, ensuring they are handled effectively.
  • Analyze and manage product transfers, waste, and spoilage to maintain efficiency.
  • Assist leadership in conducting regular inventories to maintain stock levels.
  • Support financial goals by achieving purchasing and sales targets.
  • Arrive punctually, professionally groomed, and ready for assigned shifts and training.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service by promptly addressing customer needs and utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
  • Maximize sales by implementing best practices in prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising bakery products.
  • Adhere to established health, sanitation, and safety protocols, including Weights and Measures compliance.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary working environment while ensuring equipment meets safety standards.
  • Perform opening, mid, and closing duties as assigned, ensuring accuracy in signs and pricing.
  • Immediately report any safety hazards or violations to appropriate parties.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as delegated by store, regional, or national leadership.

Job Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of bakery, coffee, and juice products.
  • Familiarity with merchandising expectations and ability to effectively apply them.
  • Ability to educate team members on product knowledge with enthusiasm.
  • Strong basic math skills to assist with inventory tasks.
  • Proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and ordering systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with a collaborative approach to teamwork.
  • Strong customer service skills with a commitment to meeting expectations.
  • Ability to follow directions, manage time effectively, and stay organized.

Experience

  • At least 12 months of experience in a retail environment.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Stand and walk for up to 6-8 hours within an 8-hour workday.
  • Engage in hand use involving single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to perform bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching motions.
  • Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals and temperatures up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Work in both wet and dry conditions as required.
  • Flexible schedule required, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Use tools and equipment, including knives, box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
  • Potentially use ladders where necessary.
