Job Summary
The Business Development Manager (BDM) will develop new customer business within their assigned sales territory. The incumbent uses the Ryder Sales Process to educate prospects, develop sales plans, analyze profitability, and manage competitive influences and risks for each account. This is a straight hunter role that requires frequent travel, a strong sales record, and a passion for hunting new opportunities.
Essential Functions
- Develop pre‑sales strategy for target accounts and build a pipeline that meets and exceeds quota revenue.
- Identify prospect needs through needs assessment and prepare value‑based proposals.
- Collaborate with Account Representatives, Country and Regional Directors, and National Sales to generate and transition opportunities.
- Maintain a complete new‑customer orientation and ensure smooth transition to the operations team.
- Track and report sales activity to management, ensuring compliance with sales protocol and SOM compliance activities.
- Leverage all available resources to expand opportunities in safety, finance, and other cross‑functional areas.
- Participate in training, improving sales skills, industry knowledge, and personal growth.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Five or more years of consecutive sales excellence in prior sales roles, with proven quota achievement.
- Good understanding of Ryder's product offerings and the ability to represent the full spectrum of Ryder services to new and potential customers.
- Advanced ability to interpret financial data.

Compensation Overview
Base Salary: $65,000 – $70,000 annually + lucrative, uncapped commission structure. Average Year One Commission: $20,000 – $35,000. Average Year Two Commission: $45,000 – $85,000+.
