Assistant Project Manager

Description:

Under the direction of the Project Manager and guidance from the Operations Manager, the exempt Assistant Project Manager (APM) will be responsible for the duties summarized below. We are seeking an individual who understands the urgency of getting the job done and done correctly. The APM is responsible for the overall administration of the project. The APM helps supervise interns as well as Project Engineers in the execution of their duties. The APM may be called upon to market company capabilities to potential customers and perform other business development activities.

Essential Job Functions

  • Able to perform all Project Engineer job responsibilities
  • Maintain cost control ledger and job cost statements
  • Prepare billings and expedite payments
  • Estimate, prepare and negotiate Change Orders
  • Write subcontract Change Orders
  • Write project procedures
  • Review plans for completeness and accuracy
  • Assist in the supervision and training of interns, project engineer and clerical staff
  • Manage and publish the project schedule on a regular basis with guidance of Corporate Scheduler
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree, or equivalent experience
  • Thorough understanding of plans and specifications
  • Field experience (Project Engineer, Intern, etc.)
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills and organizational skills
  • 3 - 4 years construction experience
