Pay:$68,640.00 $69,669.60/year with a strong benefits package

About Our Leading Nonprofit Client

Our leading nonprofit client is dedicated to providing crisis intervention and support to survivors of domestic violence and their families in San Mateo County. They are seeking aCo-Response Advocateto be part of theirDomestic Violence Emergency Response Team (DVERT). This role will involve on-scene advocacy, safety planning, and case management for domestic violence victims when law enforcement is called to a home.

Position Summary

TheCo-Response Advocatewill work within the DVERT program, embedded with local law enforcement (North Fair Oaks Sheriffs Office, Daly City, and San Mateo Police Departments). When a domestic violence call occurs, law enforcement will request the advocate to respond once the situation is deemed safe. The advocate will provide immediate support and referrals to services like legal assistance, housing, and safety planning, and will follow up with limited ongoing advocacy.

Primary Responsibilities

• Crisis Response:Respond to law enforcement calls, provide on-scene support, safety planning, and needs assessment for victims of domestic violence and their children.
• Resource Facilitation:Connect victims with emergency resources that ensure their immediate safety and well-being.
• Collaboration with Law Enforcement:Ensure necessary forms are completed and assist law enforcement with all required steps post-incident.
• Case Management:Provide limited case management, including supporting victims in legal proceedings like filing restraining orders and connecting them to mental health and housing resources.
• Documentation & Reporting:Complete accurate documentation, update client records, and track progress in the client database.
• Training & Support:Provide leadership and consultation to ensure effective collaboration between law enforcement and the crisis response team.
• Community Outreach:Build relationships with other agencies and conduct outreach to optimize referral connections and services.

Required Qualifications

• Education:Bachelors degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field, or equivalent experience in social services.
• Experience:At least 2 years of experience in case management, crisis counseling, or a related field (domestic violence or sexual assault experience preferred).
• Training:Completion of 40-hour domestic violence training is required. (Training will be provided if not already completed.)
• Language Skills:Bilingual in Spanish, Tagalog, or Mandarin/Cantonese is a plus.
• Familiarity:Knowledge of community-based services in San Mateo County is preferred but not mandatory.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

• Drivers License:A valid California drivers license is required.
• Background Check:Must pass fingerprinting and background checks.
• Travel:Willingness to travel across San Mateo County to multiple sites and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Eligibility:Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
