Registered $26.28/hour or $26.90 (Bilingual Differential) Certified $29.59/hour or $30.21 (Bilingual Differential)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We have an exciting Full-time opportunity for a well-qualified Counselor in the Latino Family Service Center. This program provides counseling services to the Latino Community in Oakland Area, Alameda and Contra Costa County. We are currently seeking qualified certified candidates for the Counselor position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Conduct initial intake and assessments;
2. Formulate treatment recovery plans for program participants;
3. Conduct individual, group, and family counseling sessions;
4. Provide assessment and appropriate referrals to clients for educational, training, and other supportive services as needed;
5. Maintain all client files;
6. Represent clients and intervene on their behalf with probation officers, law officials, etc.;
7. Maintain and submit all program documentation and reports in an accurate and timely manner;
8. Develop community resources for clients and family members;
9. Attend collaborative meetings with other agencies;
10. Develop and implement educational activities for clients;
11. Participate in all LFCS Activities, meetings, events, etc;
12. Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

1. Required - California Drug and Alcohol Certification (must be either a CADC from CCAPP, or CATC from CAADE, please list this designation and number clearly after candidate name on CV); California BBS Licensed individuals with beyond minimal SUD training and experience may be considered.
2. Bilingual Spanish/English required
3. Knowledge of alcohol and drug prevention and recovery/ treatment programs and principles;
4. Knowledge of and sensitive to the needs of the Latino Community;
5. Knowledge of the effects of alcohol and drug abuse;
6. Must demonstrate ability to understand client needs and work with adult men.
7. First Aid and CPR/AED certification
8. Non-Profit and Community Based Organization experience highly desirable.
9. Demonstrates and models excellent customer service orientation, especially in the ability to interact with people at all levels within and outside the agency.
10. Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed.
11. Exercises extreme discretion with the ability to hold, balance and transmit public and confidential information needed by various parties.
12. Proficient using MS Office products, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
13. Acquires or maintains proficiency in using Google Drive products, including Docs, Sheets, and Forms.
14. Valid CA Drivers license
15. Auto insurance: Personal vehicle may be used for business related purposes; it is recommended you inform your auto insurance carrier.
