Position Summary

• Teach with Purpose: Our teachers play a key role in bringing to life the academic and cultural visions of our schools. This includes daily lesson planning, intentional curriculum design, and regular data analysis to help all students learn and grow. Our teachers also implement Social Emotional Learning lessons and Restorative Practices to create a joyful, inclusive classroom community.


• Support and Collaboration: Our teachers work closely with the schools Leadership Team, including their Instructional Coach, to ensure students are learning and growing. This includes weekly meetings and ongoing feedback to continue improving instructional practices.


• Commitment to Anti-Racism: We are dedicated to creating an anti-racist school community. We engage in ongoing development to reflect on our identities and experiences and how they shape us as educators and leaders. As a community, we regularly analyze our systems, academics, culture, and data to assess our progress and make necessary changes.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience: Experience as an educator teaching students with demographics similar to our student community in Northern California.


• Education: Hold a B.A./B.S. degree from a regionally accredited institution. Meet one of the following eligibility requirements:
  
  
  
  • Hold a valid teaching credential in the desired subject, or
  
  
  • Eligibility for Provisional Internship Permit, or
  
  
  • Eligibility for Short Term Staff Permit.
  
  
  
  


• Knowledge/Skills: Commitment to KIPPs mission and vision, being an anti-racist educator, strong content knowledge, relationship-building skills with students, families, and communities, effective communication, proficiency with Google Suite, and the ability to utilize instructional technology for in-class and remote learning.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Daily and long-term lesson planning aligned with KIPPs academic goals.


• Regular data analysis to inform instruction.


• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment using Restorative Practices and Social Emotional Learning.


• Implement culturally responsive classroom management strategies.


• Maintain communication with staff, students, families, and stakeholders.


• Participate in weekly professional development and communities of practice.


• Keep student records updated, including attendance, grades, and behavior data.

Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

• Physical: Ability to navigate school settings, access technology, and occasionally lift or carry equipment up to 20 lbs. Ability to move in various positions to perform duties.


• Mental: Ability to handle deadlines, analyze problems, work with interruptions, concentrate for long periods, and perform routine tasks.


• Environmental: Work in a school environment with potential interruptions, adhering to health and safety guidelines as per CDC and public health recommendations.

Classification

This is a full-time, exempt position on a school year calendar, located at our school sites.
