Overview

Senior Accountant role at McKay Brothers. This hybrid position is based in Oakland, CA and reports to the Accounting Manager. The role supports the US Accounting Team and interfaces with the Europe Accounting Team, contributing to multiple business lines in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

Primary Responsibilities

• Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
• Manage the accounts receivable cycle including coding invoices, obtaining approvals, and proper review in compliance with corporate policies.
• Perform monthly close activities including general accruals and other balance sheet reconciliations (cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, accounts receivable, payroll-related accounts, among others).
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and lead efforts to implement process changes.
• Take ownership of ad-hoc requests and special projects, demonstrating adaptability and proactive problem-solving.

Experience and Skills

• 5+ years in an accounting position.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Proficiency in US GAAP accounting policies and processes.
• Strong work ethic with ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and maintain a detail-oriented approach.
• Extensive experience with Microsoft Office, Google Tools, and ERP accounting software (McKay uses Odoo version 16).
• Critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and problem-solving abilities.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
• Strong data comprehension and organizational skills.
• International accounting/finance experience is a plus.
• CPA preferred.

Salary and Benefits

Base salary range: $110,000$130,000. Individual pay is determined by work location and factors including skills, experience, and education. Comprehensive benefits include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid vacation, life insurance, AD&D, commuter benefits, and EAP.
