Research Associate in Carbon Nanomaterials for Biomedical Applications

Join UNSW as a Research Associate in the School of Chemical Engineering. In this role, you will conduct research in nanomaterials both independently and as part of a team. The position focuses on experiments across synthesis, optimisation, characterisation, catalytic analysis, and biological testing of nanomaterials.

Responsibilities

  • Develop research projects related to carbon nanomaterials for biomedical applications.
  • Carry out synthesis, optimisation, characterisation, catalytic analysis, and biological testing.
  • Write scientific papers and reports for international journals.
  • Present findings at conferences and workshops.
  • Supervise HDR students and collaborate with industry partners.

Qualifications

  • PhD in material science and engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, nanotechnology, or a related field.
  • Track record of publications and conference presentations in the relevant field.
  • Experience in synthesis, characterisation, catalysis and/or bio‑applications of carbon nanomaterials.
  • Ability to undertake independent research with limited supervision.
  • Teamworking, collaboration across disciplines, and strong communication skills.
  • Commitment to UNSW values and policies.
  • Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities.

Compensation & Details

  • Salary: $113,911 to $121,838 per annum + 17% superannuation.
  • Employment: Full‑time, fixed‑term contract 12 months (possibility to extend).
  • Location: Kensington – Sydney, Australia.
