  • Lead the development and ownership of electronics crucial for quantum hardware functionality.
  • Design Quantum Random Number Generation (QRNG) systems from foundational principles.
  • Manage the entire hardware development lifecycle, including architecture, schematics, layout, bring-up, and validation.
  • Focus on transforming conceptual designs into reliable operational hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design mixed-signal electronics for quantum systems, emphasizing precision timing, low-noise signal chains, and dependable control/readout.
  • Develop FPGA-based control and data paths to ensure deterministic operation.
  • Oversee PCB design, system bring-up, instrumentation, and validation processes.
  • Collaborate with quantum scientists and software teams to ensure successful system integration and performance.

Required Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in QPU support electronics, encompassing control/readout, timing/synchronization, mixed-signal design, and FPGA integration within research or production environments.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in delivering complex electronics (mixed-signal and/or FPGA) from initial concept to lab-validated hardware.
  • Strong proficiency in PCB design and laboratory bring-up procedures.
  • Solid understanding of Hardware Description Languages (HDL) such as Verilog/VHDL and modern FPGA toolchains.
  • Possession of an end-to-end ownership mindset, coupled with adaptability to ambiguity and rapid iteration cycles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with at least one industrial QPU stack, with a preference for experience with Rigetti or IQM platforms.
  • Experience in the design and validation of QRNG or physical-entropy systems.
  • Prior experience in startup or small-team environments, including the ability to select and justify toolchain choices.

Leadership and Autonomy:

  • This role offers significant autonomy, with the expectation that the incumbent will make critical technical decisions.
