Postdoctoral Fellow – Psychology

Join UNSW as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the School of Psychology. The role is a fixed‑term 2‑year full‑time (35h) position working closely with the Australian Defence Force to promote better mental health among personnel.

About The Role

• Salary $113k–$121k plus 17% superannuation and annual leave loading
• Fixed Term – 2 years
• Full time (35 hours)

Specific Responsibilities

• Contribute independently and collaboratively with the research team to conduct intervention studies on mental health.
• Review literature on mental health in defence personnel and common mental disorders.
• Undertake specific research projects under the guidance of a research leader.
• Prepare manuscripts for peer‑review publication, including statistical reporting and literature reviews.
• Present at conferences and workshops as required.
• Demonstrate UNSW Code of Conduct and Values.
• Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.

About The Successful Applicant

• A PhD in a related discipline and relevant experience in mental health.
• Demonstrated experience with sophisticated statistical analyses.
• Demonstrated ability to synthesise peer‑reviewed literature.
• Experience working in a research management role.
• Commitment to keeping up to date with discipline knowledge.
• High‑quality independent research under limited supervision.
• Track record of publications and conference presentations.
• Team‑work and effective relationship building.
• Highly developed interpersonal skills.
• Strong communication with diverse stakeholders.
• Understanding of UNSW aims, objectives and values.
• Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and training.
