Job Summary

The Senior Neurodiagnostic Technologist (Snr ND Tech), under direction from the Supervisor and lab protocols, will perform routine, specialized and complex Neurodiagnostic procedures including EEGs, ambulatory studies, Phase I Video EEG, Long Term Monitoring, live patient EEG monitoring, multi‑modality Evoked Potentials, Phase II invasive recordings (grid, strip, depth), ECoGs, cortical mapping, Wada testing and other specialized procedures in inpatient and outpatient settings. The Snr ND Tech will ensure electrode and technical integrity and quality of all Neurodiagnostic procedures. Accurate results provide physicians with valuable information to diagnose and treat neurological conditions. The Snr ND Tech may participate in departmental and organizational programs, including performance improvement activities, in‑services, and staff development activities, and will support, mentor and train less experienced ND staff members.

Compensation

Salary range: $67.24 – $83.75 per hour. Final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Required Qualifications

  • Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least five years of experience as an EEG Technologist or equivalent in a level 4 EMU.
  • Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics or a combination of training and experience.
  • Demonstrated competency in performing complex EEGs and in modalities such as EP, LTM, EMU, and proficiency in Phase II invasive EEG and ECoG.
  • Proficient with Neurodiagnostics software applications.
  • Knowledge of electrical safety relevant to Neurodiagnostic equipment.
  • At least five years of experience in an acute care hospital setting.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology.
  • Experience with computerized and diagnostic medical equipment.
  • Effective communication in English, orally and written.
  • Proficient computer skills including Word, Excel, and online communication.
  • Good interpersonal, time management, problem solving and self‑initiation skills.
  • Interpersonal skill in dealing with patients, family, caregivers, physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Independent, motivated self‑starter.
  • Ability to work variable shifts and locations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited training program in Neurodiagnostics is highly preferred.
  • Registered by ABRET in other modalities.
  • Prior experience working with an interdisciplinary health provider team.
  • Prior experience working in an academic medical center environment, working on complex cases.

License/Certification

  • Registered ABRET EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
