We're seeking a detail-oriented Synthetic Chemistry Specialist to join our innovative team. This position supports critical production operations in our laboratory environment, ensuring product quality and consistency while maintaining rigorous documentation standards.

Location: San Francisco, CA

Type: 6-Month Contract

Pay: $28-$32/hour

Minimum Education: BS/MS in Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct chemical synthesis procedures including specialized reactions (acylation chemistry, polyether modifications, separation techniques).
  • Prepare and qualify surfactant formulations and other chemical reagents.
  • Perform quality control testing using both chemical and biological analysis methods.
  • Document all processes meticulously in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of production protocols and work instructions.
  • Monitor and record production metrics, test results, and inventory levels.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instrumentation.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in organic synthesis techniques.
  • Knowledge of emulsion chemistry fundamentals and applications.
  • Familiarity with PCR methodology and related biological applications.
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment including analytical instruments (pH/conductivity meters, spectrophotometric tools, chromatography systems).
  • Competence with standard office software (spreadsheets, document processing).
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning and quality assurance systems (preferred).
  • Skilled in both manual and automated liquid handling techniques.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor's degree in chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry with 1-2 years of practical laboratory experience, preferably in a life science setting. Experience with automated liquid handling systems is a plus.
