Company Description

Our client is a fast-growing, physician-founded healthtech startup on a mission to reinvent how healthcare is delivered in the United States. With over $35 million in Series A funding from top-tier investors including leading venture firms in AI and digital health, they're building an AI-first medical practice that integrates human expertise with intelligent automation.

Their platform enables clinicians to deliver near-instant, personalized, and high-quality care at scale — combining human judgment and cutting-edge AI systems to make healthcare more accessible and efficient for millions.

This is an opportunity to join an ambitious, mission-driven team of clinical and technical leaders from institutions like Harvard Medical School, MIT Media Lab, and top-tier technology companies.

What You Will Do

As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in scaling and optimizing the company's infrastructure to meet the demands of rapid growth and enterprise-grade reliability. You'll work on complex and high-impact problems that sit at the intersection of healthcare, AI, and distributed systems.

  • Scale infrastructure and deployments to handle hundreds of thousands of patients with high reliability and low latency.
  • Lead strategic infrastructure investments balancing scalability, maintainability, and speed of delivery.
  • Design and implement core data systems — including data transformation, warehousing, and integration with external health information networks.
  • Improve developer velocity by building tools, CI/CD pipelines, and observability frameworks.
  • Drive reliability, monitoring, and on-call excellence while maintaining healthcare-grade security standards (HIPAA, SOC2).

Example projects might include:

  • Optimizing Kubernetes clusters for large-scale workloads.
  • Migrating queue-based systems (e.g., SQS) to Temporal.
  • Reimagining release and QA workflows to accelerate production deployments.
  • Designing multi-tenant isolation and row-level encryption strategies for enterprise clients.

Ideal Candidate Background

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering within high-growth environments (startups or scale-ups preferred).
  • Proven track record of scaling production systems and owning mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Deep technical expertise with Kubernetes, Terraform, and AWS (GCP also acceptable).
  • Hands-on experience with Postgres, Redis, Node.js, and SQL is a strong plus.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals — ideally with a degree in Computer Science or related field from a top university.
  • Highly collaborative, low-ego, and mission-driven.
  • Excellent communication skills; able to articulate technical tradeoffs and architectural decisions clearly.

Preferred

  • Prior experience in healthcare technology, especially with HIPAA-compliant systems.
  • Open-source contributions or strong technical community engagement.
  • Experience as a primary infrastructure owner in a fast-scaling environment.

Compensation, Benefits, and Other Details

  • Base Salary: $160,000 – $225,000 USD
  • Equity: Competitive stock option package
  • Work Setup: 100% remote within the U.S., with optional offices in New York City or Boston
  • Visa: H-1B transfers possible; other visas considered case-by-case for exceptional candidates
  • Benefits:
    • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
    • Flexible PTO
    • Fast-paced, mission-driven culture with high ownership and impact

Why This Opportunity Is Exciting

  • Shape the future of AI + human healthcare at an early stage of growth.
  • Join a top-tier team backed by world-class investors.
  • Work on real-world infrastructure challenges with direct impact on millions of patients.
  • Be part of one of the fastest-growing companies in digital health, scaling 5x in revenue over the past year.
