Role
We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join our Pricing team in the Lending Organization, with focus on our Credit Card business. This is an exciting role for someone looking to make a direct impact on the revenue and profitability of SoFi's Credit Card business.
Responsibilities
- Design and run A/B tests and controlled experiments to evaluate the impact of pricing, offers, and messaging strategies on acquisition, usage, credit risk and profitability.
- Utilize advanced analytics to monitor credit card performance, identify pricing optimization opportunities (e.g., APR structures, fees, and offers), and make data‑backed decisions that improve profitability and user experience.
- Work closely with cross‑functional teams – including Risk, Business, Finance, Marketing, Engineering and Product – to ensure successful design, testing, and implementation of pricing initiatives from concept to launch.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking and market research to assess credit card pricing trends, promotional offers, and customer preferences to inform product positioning.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure product success, and drive improvements based on these insights.
- Collaborate with the Pricing Data Science team to build and enhance analytical models that inform pricing decisions – such as elasticity, profitability, sensitivity, and optimization models – to support business strategy and improve financial outcomes.
- Ensure that products meet customer expectations and are positioned to deliver maximum value and satisfaction.
- Lead pricing and product development initiatives, mentor team members, and communicate effectively with senior leadership to drive business outcomes.
- Analyze product feedback, usage data, and performance metrics to drive continuous product iterations and improvements.
Qualifications
- B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Statistics, Operations Research, Engineering, Mathematics or a related quantitative field is required. M.B.A. preferred, not required.
- 5+ years of industrial experience working in the credit card industry in an analytics, business strategy, pricing, or related role.
- Strong understanding of Credit Card PnL (profit and loss) drivers.
- Proven track record of end‑to‑end experience in utilizing and laying strategic framework for model development, testing, implementation and performance tracking in the financial services industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of statistical and econometric modeling methods for significance testing and causal inference.
- Strong programming skills in SQL, Python and proficiency in Tableau.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, cross‑functional environment, with strong attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills and ability to explain complex concepts in simple terms.
- Strong relationship building and collaborative skills.
- Excels in a fast moving environment with outstanding stakeholder management abilities.
- Exceptional problem‑solving skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience in building pricing models/strategies.
- Experience working with product and/or engineering teams.
