About the Role

We are seeking an experienced software engineer with machine learning expertise to help expand Moveworks' NLU (natural language understanding) and agentic AI capabilities. Your work will enable more advanced user experiences and enhance our generative and conversational AI platform across the company.

As part of the NLU team, you will utilize cutting-edge NLP and NLG tools, including LLMs, multimodal foundation models, and hybrid vector databases. You will have access to infrastructure for fine-tuning, evaluating, and deploying models in production. Our team emphasizes data quality, with support from a top-tier annotation team to develop accurate, inclusive, and privacy-respecting datasets.

You will also focus on achieving state-of-the-art AI performance, considering metrics like accuracy, latency, reliability, and system capability. Our goal is to build the most reliable AI copilot, working closely with various internal teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement AI systems that create value for our customers.
• Tackle complex challenges in conversational AI, including architecture iteration, multimodal and multilingual agents, reasoning strategies, and model fine-tuning.
• Advance responsible AI practices, ensuring models are safe, fair, and privacy-compliant.
• Design new algorithms and architectures, evaluate with experiments, and deploy solutions at scale.
• Research and develop innovative solutions to difficult problems.
• Leverage latest ML advancements to improve products and user experience.
• Engage with the ML research community through reading and experimentation.

Qualifications

• Proven ability to ship production-quality, well-tested code and model updates.
• Strong problem-solving skills across the ML pipeline.
• Deep understanding of model evaluation, especially for text tasks.
• Attention to data quality for training and evaluation datasets.
• Proficiency in Python and/or Golang, and comfort in a Mac environment.
• Knowledge of deep learning architectures and large language models.
• High motivation for fast-paced, ownership-driven work.
• Curiosity and eagerness to stay at the forefront of NLU & AI research.

Preferred Skills

• Experience deploying ML models at scale.
• Knowledge of AI fairness, privacy, and security.
• Familiarity with frameworks like PyTorch, LightGBM, and NLP tools such as HuggingFace, PEFT, SpaCy.
• Experience with prompt engineering for LLMs.

Compensation

Base salary range: $150,000 - $275,000. Our package includes competitive salary, equity, benefits, and potential bonuses. Final offers depend on location, experience, and role scope.
