About the Role

Rippling is expanding its global HR and payroll software to serve employees and employers worldwide. We are looking for an experienced Payroll Compliance Contractor (Mexico) to join Rippling's Global Compliance and Payroll Operations team. You will own all payroll and tax compliance requirements for Mexico and partner with the R&D team to translate compliance requirements into software. This is a contract role lasting 3-6 months and requires significant cross-departmental collaboration with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Sales, and CX, as well as engagement with third-party advisors and regulatory bodies.

What you will do

  • Own and drive payroll compliance for Mexico, ensuring Rippling's payroll product is compliant, scalable, and accurate from end to end
  • Define local payroll and tax compliance requirements, including pay rules, tax structures, filing obligations, and leave mandates, to build a compliant payroll software experience
  • Leverage regulatory knowledge and third-party partnerships to identify the right compliance approach for Rippling and its customers
  • Translate complex compliance rules into clear, actionable product requirements in collaboration with Product and Engineering teams
  • Lead the full compliance development lifecycle: research, prioritization, specification writing, testing, QA, and ongoing audits
  • Participate in early product testing to ensure inputs and outputs meet accuracy and compliance standards
  • Provide strategic input to help Rippling prioritize development resources by identifying mandatory features, one-off/manual scenarios, and rare cases not worth building
  • Operate effectively in high-ambiguity, fast-paced environments, delivering quality results on short timelines
  • Proactively monitor regulatory updates and ensure timely adaptation of Rippling's product

What you will need

  • 10+ years of payroll experience with over 5 years in payroll operations, compliance, and finance administration
  • Strong understanding of Mexican taxation, payroll deductions, employer obligations, and payroll software certification or registration requirements
  • Ability to interpret and monitor legislation changes and translate them into actionable technical requirements
  • Ability to interface effectively with Product, Engineering, Legal, Finance, and HR stakeholders
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with high attention to detail, time management, and execution
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; ability to simplify complex concepts
  • Preferred but not required: CPA, NPI Certification, or country-equivalent credential
  • Auditing and reconciliation skills with working knowledge of Google Sheets
